Midnight Run

To have a listen, just click the play button.

tonight i had to
leave the stove top burning
the empty pan
wanted to be destroyed
sleepy neighbors
don't appreciate
they come upstairs
tell me to keep the noise
i keep it in my pocket

tonight i had to
keep the pace
run away
or learn my place

my fingers are heavy
lungs filled with cold
my legs wont move
my arms aren't so bold
a vision of beauty
i saw in the night
hair gently flowing
skin fluorescent white

tonight i had to
fight and yearn
runaways
always return

the air is still
the trees do not sway
a gentle chill
delicately slithering its way
across my naked skin
orange in the lamplight
everything is orange
but the orange winter leaves
have decided for tonight
that they'll glow red
under the darkened eaves

tonight i had to
leave this place
run away
