Cool and Dampened Earth
Oh the sun that has set over the darkened hills
and the silhouette of the old abandoned mill
and the warm summer breeze blowing through the grassy knoll
and the cool dampened earth warm my weary soul
Though their songs be forgot for a thousand years or more
my heart hears the echoes of those that came before
So kiss me lady fair and I'll smile filled with mirth
and commend my body to the cool and dampened earth
Not a ship to ferry me nor a casket filled with gold
just the cool dampened earth, to warm my weary soul
